In social work, it is essential that trained professionals abide to a series of ethical codes. Self-determination, working relationships and confidentiality. Just to name a few. You see, I'm a student from the Diploma in Social Work and I am proud to be part of the pioneering batch! Hence, I have drafted a code of ethics which I adhere pertaining to how I conduct my makan session/ food expeditions and penning down my thoughts in this post.
Do note that these are my personal values and belief. They do not reflect anybody's views.
The Dessert Prince's Code of Ethics
Guiding Principles
The spirit of being a food blogger is based upon the belief that all good things should always be shared among the common masses through the means of photography and blogging.
Thedessertprince is dedicated to the empowerment of friends and readers alike, allowing individual from all walks of life, preference for certain cuisines, financial means to make and thus, form sound and prudent decision(s) pertaining to their own ideal dining outspot upon the understanding of each dining outspot that has ever been shared on this blog or verbally recommended by thedessertprince.
Thedessertprince accepts the responsibility to contribute his knowledge of food, particularly desserts to all his family members, makan kakis, dining partners and lastly, the blogging community as a whole. However in due to accepting this responsibility, thedessertprince shall also be granted the right to conduct his own makan sessions/food expeditions to his own timing, mood as well as consulting dining partners of their opinions should there be any. The same right shall extend to his writing style and photography skills unless stated otherwise.
A. The Dessert Prince Ethical Responsibility & Rights
1. Taste is subjected to man's knowledge and his freewill to enjoy or dislike certain food/style.
Thedessertprince understands and respects each individual has a set of unique taste buds pertaining to their understand of food. Hence, he only seeks to share his own dining experience in accordance to his taste palette and preferences.
2. Thou shall not insult desserts in the presence and/or name of thedessertprince.
Thedessertprince has a passion for desserts and all things sweet, clearly evident in his blog. He accepts the fact that not many people can appreciate the joy of all things sweet. Thou shall have the right to deny yourself from reading this blog should you do not enjoy reading desserts. Thedessertprince only seek to promote the joy of having desserts and high tea and his heart bleeds for those who can't appreciate desserts in any form.
3. Thedessertprince is no food critic.
Thedessertprince's knowledge was formed due to his extensive readings of culinary ingredients and cuisines and keeping himself updated about the local food scene. Thedessertprince could appreciate the title of being a food critic but that does not equate to him being one. He only seek to share his personal dining experiences, opinions and perceptions to the common masses.
4. Thedessertprince has his own writing style.
Thedessertprince has developed his own unique writing style. He is open to feedbacks pertaining to his writing style. As a reader, you shall be given the right to give constructive feedback and/or remarks as well as the right to not view his blog if you do not agree to his style.
5. Thedessertprince shall not condone plagiarism.
Thedessertprince is fine with friends and readers alike to obtain inspirations from reading his blog and use his posts to do a write up for their own blog but he shall not condone any individuals that would copy and paste whole chucks of sentence declaring it as their own work. This would extend to any photos that has been uploaded to this blog since its genesis. Kindly, reference site my blog and/or contact me if you need to.
B. Ethical Guidelines Of Planning/Attending Makan Sessions/Expeditions
1. Thedesserprince shall have the right to invite anyone as he pleases.
2. Thou shall have the right to reject/deny any invitations to any makan sessions/expeditions
Thedessertprince understands that his dining partners are busy individuals. Hence, he is fine with any individual who couldn't attend to any makan sessions/expeditions should he/she be invited. No offense shall be taken by thedesserprince. Afterall, thedessertprince only seek to enjoy having his meals in the presence of good company.
3. Thedessertprince appreciates all feedbacks/comments pertaining to the invited session.
As mentioned in Paragraph A, subsection paragraph 1 of the Code of Ethics, thedessertprince has a skewed preference. Hence, it would be beneficial for his dining partners/makan kakis to share their personal dining experience with him to better facilitate his reviews. Do note that these individual response may/will be included as part of the review.
C. Ethical Guidelines Of Restaurant & Media Invites
1. Food reviews are non-obligatory.
Thedessertprince gladlyaccepts invites from restaurants and/or media invites. Unless as stated as part of the agreement, thedessertprince shall reserve the right to blog and publish reviews as he prefers.
D. Ethical Guidelines Of Utilizing Thedessertprince
1. Thedessertprince is an online platform for individual to tempt themselves with all things sweet.
2. Thou could use the information given by thedessertprince to plan one's own dining experience.
3. Thou could also ask thedessertprince in person for recommendations.
Thedessertprince understands that from time to time, his friends would ask him personally for recommendations. He's more than willing to make a few suggestions base on his friend's dining preference. If you know him personally, feel free to drop him a call or sms which will be replied promptly.
4. Thedessertprince shall play no part in contributing to his reader's success or failure to any individual's planned dining session.
Thedessertprince understands that his dining experience may differ from each individual. Hence, thedessertprince shall clarify to his readers that he shall share his personal experience of the place prior to his knowledge.
